MU Classic Iron Man - Golden Avenger

So this is my first post for Plastik Surgery, a blog in which I will document and share my experiences with customizing 3.75" figures of mostly Marvel characters. This was my very first attempt at customizing back in March - Golden Iron Man!

This custom was completed on March 20th, 2010. I used the Classic Iron Man Mark I figure from the Iron Man 2 toy line. It seemed like the most simple way to test my hand at this crazy game of customizing, so I did it. It was just a simple repaint with Games Workshop gold paint. I tried my best to stay as close to the original comic version as possible. I personally love the way it turned out. The pictures don't do the gold paint justice. Next to the rest of my Iron Man figures, it looks awesome.

The only "modding" I did was for the circles on either side of his waist. On the original sculpt, the circles actually sink inward. I filled them in with some Apoxie and sanded down the rough edges.

This first project really tried my patience with paint rub. If you're gonna be a customizer, you best get very used to dealing with paint rub because it is always there. The trick is finding the proper solution for each instance of paint rub.

So that's my first creation. Hopefully everyone likes it. And hopefully my customs will get better as I go. > <
